Home on Furlough? Let's Get Married
“Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cogdill of St. Francisville, who have three sons overseas are expecting one son Cpl. Andy Codgill home on furlough. The other two sons are Eugene in the Navy someplace in the South Pacific and T. Sg. Noah Cogdill stationed in Corsica.”
The above was published in the Daily Record Friday February 9, 1945. While Andy “A.J.”, 28, was home, he and Juanita Holmes, 29, daughter of Charles and Eva Holmes of St Francisville, took out a marriage license at the county courthouse and were married on February 20, in the Church of God, Lawrenceville. Fifty years later they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
