Dear Santa Claus, I will let you know I have not forgotten you. I will tell you what I want for Christmas. I want a big sleepy doll with real hair and a doll buggy and some handkerchiefs. Also candy, nuts, oranges and anything else you want to bring me. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, your little friend, Blanche Hoke
PS I live at Russellville Illinois Please don’t forget daddy.
Three years later, Blanche wrote Santa another letter that was published December 19, 1923 in the Vincennes Commercial.
Dear Santa Claus, I will tell you what I want for Christmas this year. I want a sewing basket, fountain pen and a doll. We are going to have a Christmas tree at school, so you must come to school. I am 10 years old and am in the fifth grade. I will close. Your little friend Blanche Hoke
